Enrolling in Army ROTC to get ready for Marine Corps PLC, is this a good idea?

The university I am attending doesn't have NROTC, just Army and Air Force ROTC. I really want to be a Marine officer and I plan on attending Marine Corps PLC next summer. Right now I can't score a 250 on the PFT, but I can p the Army one. Would enrolling in Army or Air Force ROTC help me in anyway preparing for PLC? I'm hoping that the scheduled PT will help me to reach my goal PFT score. But I'm not sure if learning things the Army/Air Force way first would help me or hurt me when I arrive at PLC. Is it better to show up with a blank mind, or a year of ROTC experience?
